![]() Sunday Sail by L. Zwaal TRADING CARDS and POSTCARDS For this project - I am wanting to put the postcards or trading cards into a quilt. The cards should be 6" X 4" finished size. This is a project where you are making a card to depict YOU - your world, your image, your smile, your kids, pets, a holiday, a memory. It can be as simple as a favourite fabric swatch to a highly beaded, buttoned, threaded, tulle'd, couched, photo imaged, embroidered card.
The interfacing base should be a fabric base - not a paper/cardboard base. There are several products available, sew-in or fusible, lightweight or heavyweight. That is your own preference, whether it be Timtex® or just a canvas. For this project, a lighter weight is preferred so that they can be sewn together into a quilt but I will work with whatever is received.
I will not be attempting to make return cards. My plan is to make a quilt that will showcase the Royal Purple Ladies of the Night - in their 10th year of meeting via the internet. Hopefully, there will be quilt shows willing to accept it for their displays. It's a project of sharing with the world, our wonderful quilters.
If you are mailing a card within an envelope, please include a seam allowance of 1/2 " around the card. Cards that have a finished edge will have a muslin backing fused when I receive them, so that they can be sewn into a quilt. I am also considering taking a scan of the mailed backside of the postcard (if you do mail it like postcard) and printing it on muslin and making a secondary quilt. That project will depend on how many are actually mailed as postcards. For your card to be included in one of the two quilts planned, mail them to: L. Zwaal
MAILING Fabric postcards can be mailed!! PRINT or write the word "postcard" on the back (the address side) at the top. POSTAGE for regulation size: Maximum 4" X 6" and no more than 1/8" thick. Postage is generally 39 cents for postcards mailed out from the U.S. to either U.S. or international destinations. Postage is 51 cents for within Canada, 89 cents for Canada to the U.S. and $1.49 from Canada to other international destinations. Use the self-stick on kind of stamps as they adhere to fabric better. Request hand cancellation.
