In September of 2002, several quilters in the west end of Edmonton met and started a fundraiser project.

Having made new friends and enjoying the quilt making, the group decided to continue making quilts.

Instead of having a quilt raffle though, they decided to find an organization to donate their quilts to.

It didn't take us long to settle on to the Zebra Child Protection Centre in Edmonton

As Lez went thru her stash of fabric left-overs, she found pieces from making a quilt with a rainbow zebra several years ago.  There MUST be more of that around!  Most of the prints were found to be no longer in production, however there is a a new run of the colorful jungle print.  Perhaps others have the print in their stash??

THEN..... After a request went out on the web - for the Rainbow Zebra fabric...
...  donations started to pour in to the project  ... Click on the Zipper to see our quilts...

A request on the internet for the Rainbow Zebra fabric gave us quite the response!  Most of the fabric was donated to the project, some was exchanged, some was purchased.  A very very big thank you to those who have contributed to our project.  The Primrose Quilters are not an official guild or society.  We are a few ladies who like to quilt, live close to each other and are enjoying the connection.  Hence we are relying on the gracious support of the community.

Quilts for the Zebra Project

To date we have received fabric and financial support from:    Jacqueline in Palm Harbor FL, Mary in Sunnyvale CA, Sydney in Long Beach CA, Sharon in Inver Grove Heights MN, Tanya K, Marcia in Laconia NH, Janie in BC and Linda in BC.  We have also received fabrics from various quilters in Edmonton.  Our heartfelt Thank You to all of you!

Also, we would like to acknowledge Tricia Knox at the Missing Fabrics website - where our original ad for Rainbow Zebra print fabric was posted.

As we talk about the project with everyone, more donations of all kinds of fabric and funding keep coming in.  We no longer need to raise funds to purchase the batting and backing that is needed to complete the quilts!!

Update: August 2007

This site is intended for displaying the quilting projects of the Primrose Quilters.  These quilts have been donated to the Zebra Centre and made from fabrics from their own stash, and from generous people across North America.
